The Center of the Universe is in Grand Rapids, MI. How ironic?! I didn’t know it was so close!

This definitely would describe my life at the moment. Tomorrow I head out for a 2 week tour for Ten Thousand Homes. Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Texas and then a very long drive back to CT. I’ll be honest, I’m tired. I’m coming off 2 weeks of traveling, events, and speaking in CA, CO, and FL. Also just wondering if my car has the capacity to make a 6000 mile trek
So I’m either crazy or resilient. The two intermingle most of the time for me. Looking at what lies ahead it creates a hope in me that this tour is as much of a pilgrimage as it is a mission. I love when people get a glimpse of God’s love for the orphaned and vulnerable. Over the past few weeks I’ve seen blank stares turn into hopeful gazes. There is a new chapter being written for Africa. It is no longer simple “that place” with “those problems”, but rather one of the fastest growing churches in the world. Even more, it is a place filled with children who are more than simply orphans - they are future heads of states, those who will find cures for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, they are entrepreneurs, artists, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters. Do we dare hope larger than the evidence before us? Perhaps we are either crazy or hopeful, and probably a mixture of the two.
This is something to risk for: A Movement to end the orphan crisis. A Movement that will outlast our simple organization.
This is my dream job: Creating a Movement! But my dream job is also one of the riskiest things I can imagine.
What’s your dream?
WIth Hope,
David
